The 5^th World Congress for Psychotherapy “East meets West - The Global Challenge in Psychotherapy", which gathered about 5000 participants, took place from 12^th till 15^th of October 2008 in Beijing , China . The organizers of the congress are the following: World Council for Psychotherapy and Chinese Federation for Psychotherapy under auspices of European Association for Psychotherapy and Asian Federation for Psychotherapy. At the opening ceremony of the congress the editor-in-chief of the journal, vice-president of the World Council for Psychotherapy professor Victor Makarov in the welcoming speech informed colleagues about publication of a conceptually new journal - World Journal «Psychotherapy», the planned mission of which lies in integration of psychotherapists all over the world and creation of a worldwide psychotherapeutic information space for professionals.

World Journal «Psychotherapy» was created to support regular constructive dialogue between adherents of scientific methods and advocates of empirical modes in the field of rendering of psychotherapeutic services and psychological counseling.

World Journal «Psychotherapy» strives for facilitating improvement of scientific quality and social significance of researches in the field of psychotherapy, publishes materials about practice, theory and researches for practicing psychotherapists and counselors, a well as for specialists of related fields, scientists and students.

Journal is addressed to international, interdisciplinary auditory and is ready to publish articles of different theoretical orientations.

The sentence from welcoming address to the journal of the president of the World Council for Psychotherapy professor Alfred Pritz became the motto of the World Journal «Psychotherapy»: The chances to create better understanding of each other and in the mirror of the others to understand ourselves is here.

New professional journal became the focus of interest of delegates of the world psychotherapeutic community. Some hundreds of copies of the World Journal «Psychotherapy», which were distributed for all four days of the Congress, failed to satisfy the interest of the congress delegates to the Journal.

Consortium of three independent companies from Russia , Montenegro and Canada headed by Softex Plus Inc. ( Richmond Hill , Ontario , Canada ) took publishing functions. The website of publishing house is - www.softexpublishing.com. The completion of website creation works is planned in December 2008. It will be possible to subscribe for the World Journal «Psychotherapy» on this website starting from January 2009.
